Florida Window Tint Legal Limits (2026)

What Does VLT Actually Mean?

VLT stands for Visible Light Transmission, the percentage of visible light the glass lets through. Lower VLT means darker tint. A 28% VLT front window lets 28% of the light in. One thing that trips people up: VLT is measured for the whole window, film plus factory glass. Most car glass already blocks some light, so a 35% film on a window that starts at 80% ends up around 28%. We measure your glass before we cut anything.
